Kim Manners--We will miss you

Via missyjack :

Jim Beaver just posted on his MySpace.

Jim is in mourning for one of the best friends and best directors he's ever known--Kim Manners, who died last night from lung cancer

I'm like...in total and complete SHOCK.  I had no idea he was ill.  If it weren't for the Jim Beaver source, I'd so be doubting this right now.  I'm still not so sure.  ( Read more... )

I keep thinking about his friends and family. It seems so sudden if he really just learned about it at the beginning of the season.

I just can't even wrap my head around this. I know that we really don't get alot of news about the talent behind the screen but I had never heard anything about him even being ill. This is soooo sad!!!

I know. I am so devastated by this news. As I'm reading this hit all across my flist and fandom, I keep reading about and remembering how many of us first started realizing how close the SPN crew was. Like a family. And Kim was so intrinsically a part of that.

This was really the first show ever that I've followed where I've learned about all the behind-the-scenes people from the writers to the directors to the sound men, to the hair and makeup and costume folks.

I can even imagine what Kim's family and SPN family are feeling right now.

I keep thinking it has to be a mistake (even though I know it's not).

Devastated is a really apt description.

'I keep remembering hearing Jensen talk about their first experience having Kim direct "Dead in the Water" (which I just re-watched yesterday.) Jensen was so expansive in his appreciation of Kim's talent.'

...and the bee story...

OMG. Yes.. The infamous Bee Story.

I'm so, so sad.

I really wish we'd gotten to see him.

Remember the Paley interview?

I REALLY had a feeling that we were going to be able to see him at a convention.

I know! I kept thinking that it was likely the best chance for him to appear.
