Jul 17, 2010 20:24

For those linked from dears , sorry for any ramble. It's not purely a gig report but also a blog.

Well, yesterday was the Attack of the Yellow Fried Chickenz tour in London and, as many of you know, I went.

YFC! YFC! YFC! YFC! )

great report...makes me wish I was here for the European tour...LOL at the mic to the audience who didn't know the lyrics.
But don't be so disappointed because the setlist is the exact same as the Japanese tour so that's probably why they played his "new" songs..it was the same for Ever or last year during the RnRII..nobody did know the songs until the singles came out.
Hope I'll be there the next time he'll come to Europe and not here in Japan.

Yeah, I know. I did know the YFC line-up as well, which helped. Even so, I was hoping that he'd have thrown something out there for the English/Western fans beyond one translated song. Don't get me wrong, the concert was still amazing and I know that a lot of the songs don't fit the YFC 'theme'. Still... My sentimentalism means I'll always love those first few songs I heard of Gackt's over his newer music.

He sounded absolutely FANTASTIC. Seriously. I stopped really paying attention to Gackt some time around 2007 (and was only die hard about 7 years ago now) and only recently picked him up again. Even so, I really enjoyed the concert. He was far more charismatic (and taller!) than I had ever imagined he would be.

Seriously, that man owned the stage and even with some of the more embarrassing hiccups (no one knowing the words for instance) he just carried on and didn't seem to blame the fans. He looked moved to tears at some points.

ha, Everyone promises to come back. That's a staple line.

Cool recounting, thanks for sharing it.

he concert then slowed and I was expecting it to be picked up with some more older music. Unfortunately, despite still being awesome, everything lost momentum from there.

Gackt and his promoters probably didn't take into account that there were people there who were fans of him, perhaps in 2005 but who might not be up to date with recent stuff. As it was his first concert, I think a lot of fans were there 'for old time's sake' and expected him to play more of a 'greatest hits' style concert, performing things that we haven't seen live before. In this, Gackt disappointed. Although there were many of the older hits, there were embarrassing moments when Gackt opened the mic to the audience and no one knew the words. The reaction wouldn't have been the same if he had performed Vanilla, Mizerable, Secret Garden, Metamophoze, Last Song... the list goes on.I find this such a weird thing to say ( ... )

All good artists take in consideration their audience and adjust their shows for the greatest enjoyment of the crowd, duh~

He's entertaining us not the otherway round =P The unfortunate fact was, his new shit DID slow the momentum. At one point it was so low tension in the live house it was quite painful ^^;/

Everyone promises to come back, and I'm not sure I believe he will, but still, it was a sweet thing to say. As well as his line about his fans from all around the world being his family ( ... )

Oh i wasn't trying to say you didn't enjoy it (i mean, it says up there that you did), I will apologize if it came off that way, that wasn't the intent.

It looks like we'll have to agree to absolutely disagree here. :)

It was something different to hear a real, reasoned different point of view, however.
