Memento Mori

Just a quick post. I was researching Memento Mori (Victorian Post-Mortem Photography), and I found out about this non-profit organization in Colorado called "Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep."
Various photographers volunteer to photograph couples and moms with their still-born and premature babies as a way to remember the baby and keep them from becoming ( Read more... )

Yeah, I actually ran across this website a few months ago and was a bit put off at first, but someone I know actually met one of the photographers that does this, and it reminded me of the site

is the genre called memento mori? a memento mori is also usually just a reminder of mortality, most often symbolized by a skull, that is incorporated into a painting.

It also refers to a type of photography that was popular at the turn of the century where people would photograph their family in poses after they died.
