[The sound of glasses clinking, people laughing, and Jailhouse Rock. Charles' voice comes over the device, sounding like he may have been doing some drinking and laughing himself.]

Elvis is in residence in the bar I'm living above.

He looks older in person.

[The music segues into Viva Las Vegas.]

Though I'm very much a fan of the new material.

It's a curse. Just not a bad one.

A shame, one could get used to all the dancing... girls... Katniss, and how are you today?

They don't have those where you're from?

[ Her interest is not so much interest as the impulsive answer, considering they don't really have those where she's from either as far as she knows. Well, actually, probably in the Capitol, but that's different; it would just be another thing to hate, harmless though it must be here.

As to the question, though her answer is both clipped and honest: ]

Glad to be indoors.

[ Seven different people tried to pickpocket her this morning before she decided to throw it in for the day and hole up in the apartment. She figures this curse doesn't award her the freedom to shoot whoever she wants. ]

Oh, Elvis is brilliant! I went to go see him in concert. And, and, then we went again. Better curse than the last one anyway.

In concert, really. I had promised my sister we'd do much the same, but then his war efforts got in the way, you know how it is.

Not exactly a military physique these days, it seems.

Well, I've seen a lot of Elvises anyway. Still fun though. And yeahhhh.

Been here long? Don't recall seeing you much.

Plural? He must have become popular.

[Not that he wasn't in '62, but the market for impersonators was yet to take off. Charles seems to take the prospect quite lightly, but he's also just part the point of tipsy where most people would.]

No, I'm quite newly ensconced. Ensconced, is that the right word? Preferable to trapped. Much cosier feeling. Newly ensconced here.

Curse. But I think if one of the Elivses marries you, it's still binding.
