ok i must be having bad luck with fish, Loraca & Mr Melodrama got me a fish tank for fathers day this year, something i have been wanting for several years now. not much just a 5 gal desk tank. and have some nifty GloFish, yes those genetically modified florescent zebra dano's. unfortunately i get two or more fish, and inevitably one dies on me

You also might want to try a rosy red or two. They're relatively cheap (and I'm fairly certain that the Walmarts that carry fish carry them, and most pet stores will carry them as well), and they seem to do well. The only thing is they breed incredibly fast (when my mom got them for her pond, we went from the starter 10 to 100 in about a month), but from what I've read online if you limit their habitat (easy to do in a 5-gallon tank), you'll limit their breeding. They are also adventerous little suckers, check out this prior entry of mine for a little story about their adventerous spirits. :)
