a couple of years ago, i broke the first joint on my pinky on my left hand. the er doc was more interested in giving me vicodan then taping it up. i still have a bump. i typed one-handed for 3 weeks.
ER sucks no matter where you go, unless you're a heart attack victim or something. I broke a bone in my foot once and spent several hours in ER just sitting there with nothing to do.
The time I went to ER, at least I had this to take my mind off the pain in my foot: Some ancient woman that came in having chest pains, then after a while she would feel better, and she would go have herself a cigarette. Almost magically, the chest pains would reappear, and the process would repeat. At first they would not readmit her because technically the woman left the hospital to have the cigarette, and that is considered a discharge and readmission, and medicare wouldn't cover that... And even after the doctor explained it to her, she didn't make the connection that maybe she should, umm, quit smoking or something.
