Expertise

Expertise.

Something to be said about it. That word even.

Expert. Tease.

Both of which Gil Grissom excelled at.

Nick hadn't ever thought about it before, how sexy competence was--way more than innocence. And while, it seemed to Nick, that Gil might sometimes be out of his depth when it came to the communication parts of a relationship, some of the more physical aspects he seemed to have experience with.

A lot of experience.

In particular, the parts that involved Nick laying on their bed, bound and sweating but not yet broken, when Gil seemed to twist time, stretching and pushing out that sweet expectation until every second hung endless and forever, eternities passing between one drop of Nick's sweat falling onto the bed and the next. The parts when Gil was pressed into him like a second skin, enveloping, ensnaring and pervading him until Nick was so strung out on need and want and more that not only could he not remember his own name, he could barely remember to breathe. As well as the parts that came after, when Nick floated boneless and Gil seemed to worship his body, washing him with the softest cloth and blessing him with weightless kisses all the while whispering words of praise which wrapped around his soul and warmed the places that, though still empty, were gradually filling.

And as Nick learned to give, not just trust and surrender, but love, to kiss away the stress that lingered in the lines of his lover's forehead, to comfort even at a distance, to support even when it wasn't expected, he realized that he, too, was becoming an expert. Not in relationships, not anything in general, but in that very specific topic of Gil Grissom.
