I have nothing to return to at the place I had once called home, so I do not intend to go back. Edensphere has been little more than a well furnished prison cell, so I do not intend to make my home here either ( Read more... )

The life of a wanderer is certainly an appealing idea sometimes- especially if you have nothing tying you down.

Let's hopy lady luck shines on you, eh, Thomas? Should we meet again, I'll be sure to hold you to that drink offer.

I believe it's all I ever wanted. I am rather looking forward to it.

Of course. Though do you suppose you will return? It sounds to me as if you have quite the tidy life waiting for you in your home.

I do- and admittedly, I'm not sure if coming back here will be possible. But hey, you might well end up in my world on your travels.

True enough. But wherever I do end up, I will be able to wander to my heart's content even if I may never return - a single world is larger than this city, of course. Would you recommend your world?

Sounds like you've got a pretty exciting life ahead of you... and a good amount of time to live it in, at that. I wouldn't have taken you for an old man.

That would be because I do not, in fact, consider myself to be an old man. It is said that you are as old as you feel, but this is something I consider to be a blatant lie. You are as old as you look, for people will treat you accordingly, and therefore I shall never be old.

And an exciting life it will be indeed.

Something more along the lines of 'timeless', then? Yeah, that does sound like your style.

Will you do us the favour of recounting these exciting exploits, if you do manage to find your way back?

As timeless as a well-tailored suit, yes.

Why else travel if not for a good story to tell? Perhaps I'll write it all down one day.

That's all right. You aren't the only friend I have who'll still look the same twenty years from now.

I'm not sure "be safe" is the right thing to say, so--have a good trip. However many there end up being.

Oh? Is it a common phenomenon in your world?

There will be many, I hope. Thank you.

It's a common phenomenon among some people I know. Let's put it that way.

May I see you before either of us leaves, or were you planning on sneaking off?

I will leave it at that, in that case.

You will be seeing me before I leave, yes. If I intended to slip away quietly, I would not have written this, though I will not be here for long. I would like to say good bye.

Good luck in your journeys.

Barring unforeseeable circumstances, you can at least expect another person here who would still look the same, no matter when you would return.

Thank you... Stellaris, is it not? I'm afraid I don't recall whether or not we've spoken before, but I do recall your writing. You do not age?

We have, though rarely.

Well, to be precise there might be a reliability limit centuries along the way, not to mention the mechanism's continuous performance outside my world has never been tested, but generally speaking, I don't.

Not so surprising. The use of the journal for idle chatter did decrease in these uncertain times.

Mechanism's continuous performance, you say? Do you mean to say that your longevity has somehow been increased through the use of technology?
