This turn of events is most unpleasant. It is all very well and good to tell everyone to stay inside when they do, in fact, happen to have a place to stay. Such explosions may not be enough to actually seriously harm anyone, but I cannot say that it's particularly enjoyable. I believe that I am covered in a veritable layer of filth at this point ( Read more... )

How long have you been back?

A little over a month now.

What, you have been hiding under stones? You left me with quite a mess, Mr. Grift. I did not need to know that much about human anatomy, no.

What on earth are you talking about?

[Tap, tap, tap. Deep breath, and ask.]

You still don't have a house? Hasn't it been a while by now?

About a month, yes. I intend to get one at some point, but first I wanted a while to clear my head. Edensphere appears to have conspired against me in this.

It's not really a safe time to be roughing it, even if it is still summer and sort of warm.

[She wants to just say stop being silly, there's room at the Bar if that's what it takes, but.]

Before this whole war business, I was just as safe outside as I was inside. None of these ridiculous war toys are enough to do more than leave a bruise, so I cannot say that outside is much more dangerous than inside, but likewise, I cannot say that it's particularly enjoyable.

I'd suggest the Wilderness but that's risky at best, these days.

Don't have someone you could hide out with until this all blows over? [If it does blow over...]

I've been. It's an odd place at the moment, and I think those that reside there are a good deal more dangerous than war toys. Less noisy, though.

No, I don't. There's always temporary housing, I suppose.

Anything's better than that blankness. Good luck avoiding them.

As long as a fight doesn't break out in there.

Yes, that blankness is... unsettling is too weak a word for it. Even these explosions are preferable to it.

It seems to me that everyone is in danger of these false explosions in any sort of housing, then.

[No worries, Kagerou, Axel will pipe up in your stead.]

You know there's room for a futon and a cardtable upstairs at the bar, right boss?

[Awwr, Axel. ;o; He will say the same thing he said to Kagerou, and he has less of a problem with consorting with Axel than Kagerou. No problem with it, actually.]

Thank you for the offer, Axel. If I do happen to take you up on that, would there be enough room for a second guest? I'm afraid I'm not going anywhere without Chapel. Pacts of false brotherhood and all.

Hey, I hear you on the sibling front. I'm sure we can figure something out. Never really knew Chapel, but I suppose if he can provide references and pass a random drug screening we can make it work.

Also I'm mostly kidding about the references and drug test.

Exempting nicotine and alcohol, I declare him drug-free, which does make him a perfect fit for the bar, after all. If we do arrive, not to worry, it will only be for the duration of these explosions.

But we look so stylish now.

At least they are clean. That, however, is about all I can say for them. By the by, it appears that Kagerou and Axel have kindly offered to lodge us in the bar until this mess dies down.

Did they really? That doesn't seem very wise of them if they want to keep up their stock.

So when do we move in?

It certainly doesn't! [A pause.] But speaking honestly, Chapel, if I find that you take anything without payment, I shall throttle you myself. Save that sort of business for establishments other than the fine Smoke's. I'm afraid you are no longer the owner's friend and therefore no longer receive any of the perks.

Whenever our fine hosts see fit.
