Some Goals for 2011

Jan 03, 2011 11:42

Write first draft of novel by June 30.

Find an outlet for helping with male violence.  Volunteer at shelter?  Join men’s group?

Record Dad’s stories.  Ask him about his work at the bank.

Learn to shoot

Get my own place

Get my own health insurance

goals, gulp!

When I considered joining the service after high school, one of my reasons was that I'd learn how to shoot. Maybe I should learn in America. Assuming the constitutional right to fire a gun applies to non-Americans.

What's the novel about?

Oh, sure: guns are fundamental human right, just speech. :p

There are two stories in my head, and I'm not sure which might come out: one is about the downfall of a gangster, and the other (which would be called Admiral of the Western Mountains) is about man who chooses to go mad rather than go to war.

Ooh, recording your Dad's stories! That's a great idea! I wish now I had recorded my grandmother's stories. I have them in my head, but I wish I could hear them in her voice.

Yeah, and who knows? Someday I may have descendants.

That's a good list. I know the ulp! feeling too. I think you're right about there needing to be benchmarks and such, but yeah, listing them is a good start, especially where others can see and thus you must be somewhat accountable ;)

I've been working on a list myself.

Guns are tools for killing, and I distrust any organization that dedicates itself to promoting their use. Maybe I have heard the Doctor sneer at guns too many times, and taken it too much to heart.

I like that your list is more of a goals/to-dos combo than a "resolutions" list. :) Good luck, I'll be rooting for ya!
