Weighing in on Buffy Season 8 comic

Boy, there are a lot of polarizing reactions about the upcoming Buffy comic, most stemming from either a) Lingering bitterness over Season 7 b) Buffy's outfit and c) the Immortal spoiler.

For myself, I can't help but be excited I've always been a Buffy fan, the character that is and I've missed her too much and just want to see how my girl is doing ( Read more... )

Dude, word.

I agree completely with approaching the comic with an open mind. This seems to happen everytime soemthing new comes around - kneejerk reaction against it. I, like, you trust Joss a whole lot and am willing to see this thing get off the ground before even thinking of condemning it.

*sigh* I know. And the reaction almost always colors the way they see either an episode or a series. I remember the very bitter outbreak when a spoiler on Buffy's ending came about. It really saddened me a whole lot.

If it were up to me, I'd like fandom to emulate Oz. There's nothing to be got from all the codemnation, its going to happen one way or the other whether bad or good remains to be seen.

And, Joss, whatever you think of the man is good at writing his stories and really, I'd rather think he wanted to write another Buffy story because he missed writing her rather than because he's in it for the money. *shrug* It make me naive and idealist but I'd still like to believe that.

I don't think it's naive to think that; Joss strikes me as someone deeply invested in the stories he tells, both from how he comes across in interviews and just from his storytelling that we see on screen. You don't put that much effort into things like Buffy and Firefly unless you love it that much.

I think so too and watching him talk about Buffy, about how after the first season he was supposed to move on but he couldn't because he fell in love. And, his voice when he said that... you can't fake that. Especially now I've seen him act, he really can't fake that. *fond smile*
