Hello! I friended you for the Fringe talk, so I'm introducing myself.
Yes to all this. My main reaction to Peter's return was: already?! I may have thrown a mini tantrum. (But I greatly enjoyed his face when Olivia didn't recognise him.) It's only been four episodes and I like everything about the Fringe team without him. I still wanted him to return for Walter's sake, but that was the only reason, and that dwindled a little when it looked like the first person he asked for at the hospital was Olivia. And now, we probably won't ever see wonderful moments like Walter and Olivia sharing a root beer float without Peter right in the middle.
I'm concerned about a possible reset too, because there's nothing I don't like about the amber universe, for exactly the reasons you enumerated. Plus the fact that the other Cortexiphan kids haven't been sacrificed to retrieve Peter from the red universe. I want to see them again.
Hi! And welcome! I always love discussing FringeI hear you about the tantrum, I also threw a small fit myself. Peter was always the character that never clicked for me and watching the Peter-less universes was a revelation to me
( ... )
Peter never clicked for me either. He didn't bother me as long as he wasn't front and center, but I didn't like it when his relationship with Olivia started. First for the reasons you stated. I keep seeing comments on the fact that he taught her to open up, but I remember that when she met him, she had a boyfriend she was in love with (and she was happy), she had a friend-sort-of-mentor in Charlie, and she had her sister and her niece. The boyfriend was killed in fraught circumstances, then Charlie, and once she got back from the red universe, her sister and her niece, who had been such a huge part of her life, practically disappeared. Not really an improvement. And now, showing me another set of good relationships that Olivia formed because she never met him doesn't make me feel that he was missed, you know
( ... )
I'm trying keep my pessimistic side in check but after the second half of season 3 I feel like I've been burned.
I also hope that there's no change in Olivia's powers and just that she has no trigger to start using her powers again. I also hope this season we will see some real answers to ZFT which I felt was dropped.
