"High Tension". It's French, and it has some really awful dubbing in places, but luckily, there isn't much talking. It scared the PEE out of me.

OHGOD... I saw that one when it first came out and I still get nightmarish flashes of that movie in my head.

The most gruesome I've seen lately was Martyrs. BAD, BAD, AWFUL and ugh, but it was still really awesome, haha.

I remember when you watched that... so, of course I have to put it in my netflix queue.

It's not exactly a horror, more of a thriller, but Vidocq is pretty cool. Trippy in places, too. It might also be under the alternate title Dark Portals. It's French, and actually based on a real life guy who's considered the father of modern criminology.

ETA: Another French film, The Brotherhood of the Wolf (Le Pacte des loups), is also pretty good. Loosely based on a real life story about the Beast of Gévaudan.

As long as the movie has one of the genres listed as horror on IMDB and its over 60 minutes, it counts.
