Oh man, that really sucks. I can understand on the one hand that you hadn't gotten prior permission so "the wrong people" might not understand that you'd been there every year before, but seriously? "Visiting" is not allowed at the mall? Since when? The managers sound absolutely downright miserable. :(
I am glad you were at least able to share your costumes SOMEwhere this year!! They're incredibly adorable. I hope this doesn't put a damper on your seasonal fun, and you make another attempt next year. <3
Even we understood that- we tried to tell the manager on the phone that we'd not meant to break any rules, and that we just didn't know there were rules for things like this. Seriously, you'd think someone, a guard or otherwise, would have asked if we had permission for this sort of thing in any of the previous four years. I'm still astounded the manager acted like no one had ever told him that two people in flashy costumes were prancing around his mall a few times a year during the Christmas season. His response was that we should count ourselves as lucky for having gotten away with it for so long. Ugh.
I'm also glad we've still got places that want us- in fact, we've had several businesses offer to let us visit any time, mentioning that they'd be thrilled to have us. They're not as big of venues as the mall, but we'll still be doing some good. We're going to sign up to ring the Salvation Army bell outside of the Sam's Club next to the Walmart next year, so we're not giving up yet! ♥
Yeah, you would think that either one of the previous security guards would have said something, or that the managers might have been okay with it if they knew you were coming. Consider yourselves lucky you've gotten away with making people smile at Christmastime. *wags finger*
I'm glad there are other places that are willing to let you in. I know it's probably not quite the same as the mall, but hey, at least there are venues that aren't going to be Scroogey.
On another note, I love your makeup, it looks fantastic. <3
Great suits! Sorry to hear about the refusal by the mall, though; you think they'd rather be all over this and allpw it if not use it to bring in some business and/or some positive media attention. Oh well, their loss.
Good on you and your Dad for doing this. Both of you have a very Merry Christmas up there in Whoville. ;)
I agree- we were kind of surprised that since we generate a lot of positive attention and draw a crowd in that they wouldn't mind us being there, or would at least hear us out once we'd learned we broken rules. Alas- their loss is a gain for other places, though. We'll still be able to spread the joy of the season, but it'll be at other locations in town. We're going to give bell-ringing for the Salvation Army a try next year. I'm really looking forward to it. ♥
Thanks for the support! You have a Merry Christmas, too!
