Visit to the Arcana Cabana (for Connor and Kairos)
The sign on the door of the Arcana Cabana says 'by appointment only', but Connor and his friend more or less have a standing invitation. It's just a matter of whether the door is unlocked.
Today it is, because Balthazar's just finished seeing a client less than half an hour ago, and he's sweeping debris out of the shop. It's almost as bad as it sounds; some of the bits he's removing are charred, and he looks frazzled. Honestly, don't people know how to handle an orb of perpetual fire any more?
The street is relatively quiet, only the occasional car or bike courier gliding past. It's not an especially clean area, or elegant, and the ancient shop wedged between buildings looks strangely out of place. As Connor and Kairos arrive, a trio of gargoyles on a ledge of the building peer down at them, toothy but relatively benign guardians.
