Wow, had my first Migraine evar. Was at Pizza, reading twitter, when had a HARD time suddenly reading as if my vision folded over, or something, I mean, I could tell there was a screen and words there, but the typeface was unfocusable. RIGHT in the center of my vision... I started wondering if I was going to pass out because of the vision thing ( Read more... )

Yep, welcome to the world of migraines. I found out DLP projectors trigger mine, so I avoid them and I've been alright. Something about the specific frequency they flicker at, wicked nasty migraine.

Don't know what triggered mine, except there was some guy at the DNC yelling out taglines against the Republicans, and it was getting kinda annoying because it didn't have any substance, just whipping up us-vs-them mentality. Mine could be windbags bloviating, but who knows.

It could have easily happened at the RNC, too, not to dig at the DNC, every party has their quota of ridiculous pompasity.

If stuff like that is bothering you, it can stress you out. Stress is a HUGE trigger for migraines. Other possibilities: Extreme heat, certain foods, certain smells (the smell of tar =instant migraine for me), too much caffeine, too little sleep, and not enough to eat.

I can tell you that the best thing to do is to find a dark place to die for a little while. Generally, it won't matter much when it comes to noise. But man, movement and flickering lights will kill every time. Be careful taking things like Excedrin. I learned the hard way about Rebound Headaches.

Since finding out the majority of my migraines were brought on by rebound headaches, I've just powered through migraines without medications at all.

Generally, Dark Chocolate will help. A lot.

Getting a head start on it with the pills was good, .. u probably don't need the extras though. Here's hoping those are few and far between... maybe even the last..

Fingers crossed that you'll have my luck with that. I got one migraine back in my very late teens, and since then all I get is the patterning-over of my vision. Everything feels off for a few hours after the patterning, but there isn't the brain-searing agony that came with it that one time. I feel great empathy for people who have to deal with these regularly. I've had friends who suffer with headaches that last DAYS at a time. I just can't comprehend that.
