what was a little breaking and entering between friends?
Between teammates, or Bats, or Birds -- nothing at all. I'm glad Helena's on board with their status.
Hatesex usually doesn't work for me, but this isn't *quite.* It fits their struggle for power without getting overly nasty. Thank you for that.
The bullet scars that canon has forgotten made me beam. Thank you, thank you, thank you for remembering them.
the small dark mirror that never seemed to reflect Helena Bertinelli for Huntress or Huntress for Helena Bertinelli.
Mmm, identity porn.
The way Dinah and Helena work together here made me grin. They should always be so smooth.
Helena had her on the bed before she could reach for an escrima stick
I giggled at this because it made so much sense in my head. Disarm your sex partner, Helena; it's key to your survival.
Babs' inability to ask Helena to stop *got* me.

I was hoping to be convincing. =D
"Breaking and Entering" was the story's working title until it kind of spiraled out of control. I really loved the whole Sensei & Student arc and Helena breaking into the Clocktower and Babs' reaction to her being there just made me very happy.
As for the "hatesex," it never really felt like that was what it was. I saw it more a really big power struggle between the two of them, so I'm glad it didn't come off as "hatesex." Simone has managed to give the Birds really interesting dynamics between all the members, so of course I absolutely fell in love with the friendship between Helena and Dinah. I couldn't resist the temptation to throw in scenes highlighting it and Dinah is such a sweetheart anyway.
I think it was seeing Huntress finger her bullet scars in one of her minis that made me want to really put Babs and Helena together. They can be remarkably alike.
Oh, *goodness.* Helena, you know nobody gets ( ... )

Yes, exactly. =D
The fandom is actually kind of a small, which is sad, but the comics themselves have a ton of subtext if you're willing to read them through with goggles. jennyo has provided the proof of the subtext here (though not Helena/Babs--this pairing is kind... obscure).

This is such a tricky pairing to get right--see also, piles of unfinished fic languishing in my notebooks--but you hit it out of the park.

I completely understand the feeling; it took a lot of drafts before it stopped sounding so cheesy and lame (and the first draft was really cheesy and lame). Thanks for reading and I'm glad you liked it. =D
