Comic: Runaways (Brian K. Vaughan + Adrian Alphona) made me sad. But I'll keep reading because I'm curious and I find certain characters interesting enough to keep my attention. The art tends to be all over the place, but what can you do when the artist may change from issue to issue? Sometimes it's really very pretty and, despite the changing

*has been utterly reduced to incoherent yelling*
...and Bell Jar is awesomely disturbing read. I read "Daddy" out loud at a poetry reading yesterday...aw Plath...
*more incoherent yelling and quoting Shakespeare*
And there's an awesomely old 70's version of A Midsummers Night's Dream with Dame Judi Dench...occasionally it turns multi-colored and Puck sticks his tongue out for no apparent reason.
It's vaguely traumatizing, but awesome.

70s version? Sounds like something infinitely more interesting if you're on drugs.

The drug trip one is Midsummers Night's Dream. I don't like the new version of that with Michelle Pfieffer (I am so celebrity saavy I can't spell any of their names)...Titania looks like birthday surprise Barbie or something...
Ah, but for truly traumatizing Shakespeare movies...ask Amy about The Tempest...

Kushiel's Scion seems so disappointing... Why I am not surprised? (although I had some hope:>).Carey had her moment in the first volume, now she just follows the path of majority fantasy-many-volumes-writers. Down. So sad TT.
Kenneth Branagh is the master of Shakesperae screening. Probably:D

Hm. Scion may pay off. It depends on the reader. I didn't find Imriel as engaging as Phedre as a narrator and considering that the entire book is from his POV, this isn't a good thing. At least there's some political intrigue and diplomacy and careful court maneuverings. We have enough "Let's go save the world with our big swords!" fantasy books.
Oh? I do not know of this Kenneth Branagh.

Never heard that. She should've known how big impact her writing can have: my friend who used to feel weak when seeing blood, passed oud reading some bloody scene from the Bell Jar. I was impressed :D

Don't say Conan the Barbarian is boring ;D
No, really, intrigues and diplomacy are surely strong points of this story, but still not enough to swoon over them. Phedre is this invention which gets my attention :D.

=D. No, you do.
I kept picturing the movie version, which I've seen clips of. Don John was Keanu Reeves *shudder* and Beatrice was Emma Thompson =D
He was the director here and played Benedick :D. He also directed some other Shakesperae plays.

As for Nico going 'bad', she seems the most afraid that it will be her since she has the 'witchblood'. And I have to admire the writers for showing Nico's struggle and her trying to change herself and her supposed 'fate' of darkness. (ie praying and reading the Bible). Although I wonder if the writers have watched enough anime to try and make Gert go all nuts, either her or Molly.

Even with knowing that brains are a very large part of the group dynamic, as what happened with Alex turning against the rest of the Runaways, you shouldn't have the brain dynamic focused on just one person. After a time, the team members should have found their own niches and situations where they are the point/key person and go from there. I think that Nico's doing a good job considering that she's not an official leader (well, last time I checked, she wasn't).
Heh, I can see Molly joining up with the New X-Men, Nico going to study with Dr. Strange or someone. The others, I'm not so sure about. ^^;
