Given the overwhelming commentary to the finale (OMG YOU GUYS I WISH IT WERE LIKE THIS EVERY WEEK, TBH), and the fact that the episode was so mind blowing, I'm opening up a new discussion post for any and all post episode reactions and thoughts. :)

I think this was an incredible end to what's really been a wonderful season. I'm not a person who likes cliffhangers, so I'm glad that there weren't any "Who lives? Who dies?" ones like last year. I found the way the episodes were shot really added to the suspense - there was a lot of darkness, a lot of shadows, and it finally gave viewers a sense, I think, of how big Seattle Grace is. (That being said, the one thing I did find absurd was that there was no way in hell only 5 SWAT team members would've gone in and it would've taken that long to find the shooter ( ... )

The entire time I was questioning where the hell is the SWAT team?! Then everyone showed up outside, and no one set foot inside the hospital?! It made no sense, and it would never take that long for SWAT to run into the hospital and find the shooter, that was absolutely insane ( ... )

And OMGWTF Lexi! In the last post someone said they're hoping Lexi was all, "I love you Alex," because she couldn't leave him while he's hurt. I certainly hope so. Mark and Lexi were one of the best ideas the writers ever had... Other than Callie and Arizona. SO glad they go back together.

If you read the writers' blog, it appears as if they agree with you! About Lexie feeling sorry for Alex and really loving Mark, I mean.

Happy Birthday!!

I'll echo most everyone's comments here and agree that there was sooooo much about this episode that was absolutely simply magnificent
as snowweiz said - perfectly well written and acted by every single cast member.
Too many outstanding moments to name them all here, but I gotta mention two, no make that three:
Bailey losing it---that broke my heart.
Cristina taking Meredith's face in her hands and telling her she would do her best to save Derek but that Meredith had to stay outside and wait. Wow. Fabulous. Gripping.
and then to turn around and see that Clark was in the O.R.--holy crap!!
And I absolutely cheered when the Chief poured out that vodka. Right on, Richard!
Suffice it to say, it was Emmy-worthy, for sure!

In a season that seemed to have no direction, they really delivered the goods in its conclusion
This!

And ITA with the rest of your post.
