Ellen welcomes a daughter

Ellen Pompeo and producer husband Chris Ivery have welcomed a daughter.

“Her name is Stella Luna Pompeo Ivery,” Ellen’s rep tells JustJared.com. “She was born on September 15th (Tuesday).”

This is the first child for the 39-year-old Grey’s Anatomy actress and her music producer husband. The baby news was first reported by Us Weekly.

I LOVE Stella, but I'm not a fan of Luna. Together I think they sound too sing-song-y or something.

Haha, I was wondering the same thing... Did they know it's a book about a bat? Or did they just think "hmm, I really like the name Stella. Luna sounds cute... that sounds familiar, does someone else have that name?"

the book is about a baby bat who loses her mom before she knows how to do anything and she has to learn without her. so i was wondering since ellen lost her mom at such a young age, if the book really spoke to her. it makes sense.

Oh yes, i did wonder when i saw the name if it were related to the book, but i hadn't read it as a child. this does make since.
