By the time Haley and Jordan arrived at the bar, the place was already crowded with people and the band was doing a sound check. The place wasn't upper class, but it was relatively nice for a bar, and still had a decent amount of room for a dance floor in front of the stage. "Maybe we should get a table," Haley sighed, leaning in close to Jordan's ear as they made their way in.
"Are you driving?" Haley nodded, and Jordan gave her a grin. "Then I'm doin' shots. So -- I think staying at the bar would be advisable."
Haley shook her head with a bit of a grin, before following her friend to the bar and settling on one of the stools. Jordan ordered a round of tequila, and Haley got a diet Coke.
"You know, just once? I'd like to see you drink something with an actual kick to it."
"I have wine with a good meal," she pointed out. "And a beer if I'm home and I don't have to drive. But I don't like hard liquor."
"Uh-huh," Jordan paused long enough to down one of the shots placed in front of her, flipping over the glass before looking

"Eh, you've got time," Jordan waved a hand. "My parents didn't get married till they were in their thirties. Hell, your parents never got married, did they?" She looked back over at Haley, and she shrugged slightly.
"Not that I know of. Think my dad was thinking about it though."
"My folks didn't get married until I was almost nine." He shrugged. "But that's a long, complicated story I'm not going into." he held up his beer to the bartender to get himself another one.
"So, Haley is a musical prodigy as well. What about you, Jordan?" Saving Haley from having to talk about family stuff by a quick topic change. "You look like you're be a flute player if you did music."
"Well, no karaoke night is fine for fun, but not if you want to see how talented she really is," Haley sighed. "Just like I can play the piano drunk, but not overly well."
"That works." He looked at the napkin, then Haley. "Maybe you could add a phone number to that, just in case I need to call for help getting there. Don't know my way around campus too much."
Haley looked at him for a moment, before nodding. "Sure." She took the napkin back, and scribbled down a number and handing it back to him. "That's the number for the main office. You can even reserve tickets in advance there, and they're more than happy to help with directions."
She knew he was trying. But he was going to have to work a little harder than that.
Down in flames. He didn't let it show on his face, nodding and tucking it into his back pocket. "Awesome. Thanks."
However he took a good swig of beer afterward. "So are they doing another set, or is there another band. I didn't see any posters about tonight at the door."
Haley glanced down at her watch before nodding. "They should be up for another set soon. Probably just taking a break to give Nicky's voice a rest."
Jordan felt your pain, Ben. She really did. She knew that Haley was being intentionally dense, and she just shook her head, before getting herself to her feet. "I need to make a run to the ladies room. You two have fun."
Ben took her seat, leaning down to sniff the shot glasses. "I'm surprised she's not on the floor yet," he commented, then looked towards the stage. "So you know the band then, huh?"
"That's cool. Alec tried to get me to play with him. The amount of musical talent i have in my whole body equals what he has in his pinky. But I can play a few chords on the guitar, which he loved while he was going through his Trans Siberian Orchestra and classic rock years."
Ben smiled to himself a moment. "I was the jock, if you can't tell."

"She's fantastic," Haley supplied. "You should hear her sometime. But not when she's drunk."
"Oh, come on. You love my drunken rendition of 'Proud Mary.'"

Camero Boy wasn't a student and had no idea how to know when campus events happened.
