Comments? Critiques?

I worked on some business card ideas for myself and I was hoping to get some feedback from y'all. After staring at them for 2 and a half hours I'm bound to be missing some glaring oversight. Please keep in mind that these are still rough, but be as critical as you like (or can).

Thanks!

The front of option 1 is a little awkward. You have a vertical hand written text that almost feels like a signature contrasting with the horizontal text. It creates a large, almost unnatural gap between Marissa and Lee. The "art design production" element seems unbalanced and almost unnecessary there. All of the backs have large divides which feel a little bit awkward in their placment ( ... )

See, this is why I wanted to get your opinion. Thanks for lending your formally trained eye, since I don't have one myself. >_>

I like the idea of lining up the heavy horizontal lines - that's good stuff. Then I'll probably call on you again to pick it apart, haha.

On a (somewhat) related topic, what do you think of using Century Gothic for body type? Yes, no, sometimes, never?

I also really like the second set. For font, maybe you should check out Futura? It's what the UC system uses (the sans serif one)

I like the first one better, and hey why not use all of the three backs? Have some variation in the cards. But I think if you had to pick one, to go with the horizontal dark bar one, since it seems the most polished of the three. Though I do like the thought of having both the pictures being vertical, so slightly different than the standard business card. Though it might be good to have both directions for your cards (horizontal/vertical) so that if you end up in a spot where the business card holder is only for horizontal ones, yours will still sit nicely in the holder. Although that might be taking the practical approach a bit too seriously. *shrugs*

I actually really, really like the front of the second but not the back much. The second back seems to be missing something after the gothic grandeur of the front second one, like they don't quite match like the first one does. But all in all, I think you're on the right track, certainly.

Why not use all three? Uh. Money. Or lack there of. :) And you bring up a good point about the vertical design possibly being awkward. I'll have to keep that one in mind.

"gothic grandeur" is not something I was going for, but I kind of like it. I'll see what I can do about bringing that to the back too. Thanks
