For an Old Man and a Young Girl (For a Raven and a Falcon)

Luther is sitting by himself in some place outside the Mansion--he was always happier with the earth, near the earth. He is involved in his usual practise of being a weathered old rock, but this time he has a small knife and a lump of wood, which is slowly becoming something.

ORThe same place, but quieter, perhaps more serious--he's not here to ( Read more... )

Alice wanders up behind Luther, but does not say anything just yet. She knows her manners quite well, and manners are doubly important when the gentleman you wish to greet is working with a knife.

Perhaps she has stepped outside to pick flowers, only to discover that it is nearly too early in the year-- that the crocuses and the tulips are just beginning to bud. She quickly forgets about the them, though, for this is more interesting-- a piece of wood that is slowly becoming-- well, that's a surprise, isn't it?

The piece of wood seems to be developing wings, because Luther's much too old to fly now, raven or not--but he's working with a smile, and he looks up suddenly to direct the smile at her. It's a small, quiet one, as his always are, and one that inspires absolute trust (here is a Good Man).

"Hello."

Oh-- she smiles back, of course, and drops into a very shy little curtsy. "Hello, sir."

"How are you?" He salutes her, because rocks remember things for a long time, and he remembers when they first met.

Presently there's a light footstep in the grass behind him. "Well, there you are," quietly, rather fond.

Luther looks down at him--since it is down right now, away from the clouds. "Florian." It's warm.

Florian grins. "Find anything interesting?"

"That clouds don't like to be given one shape to keep to, either."

Perhaps, somewhere between the two, there's a middle ground for another girl in a blue dress, to skip along, singing gaily (it's a lovely day) -- perhaps she wouldn't be quite so childish or silly if she were aware of anyone watching, but most likely she wouldn't mind.

Of course there is. Luther will be out, not waiting for her, but there (she's his golden girl, though that's his secret), settled in a quiet place.

Rina pauses, a moment (and still not seeing Luther, though she's gotten very near him), standing in the long grass with her skirt held up to her knees; she tilts her head back, eyes closed and with a smile to match the sun's. A moment - and she's singing again -

"And if I was with my love, I'd live forever-"

Luther's just smiling--his smiles are good, they suit, and they're oddly expressive--and he almost couldn't not smile at Rina.

But he's not going to interrupt her; he's waiting for her to see him first.
