Wow. I hadn't seen that gem. And I agree 100% with what you say - you should crochet it like one of those homlies you can keep on the wall, and send it to the production office! XD

(There's gonna be more PotC movies?! I had no idea!)

It's like, I don't know how to tell them this, but... they can't have it both ways! They can't be making the same kind of show that we've loved in the past, but also be so completely different that the critics are going to shower them with praise for it too. Or maybe they just won't be making a show like they have in the past for the reasons I loved. I can't help but feel like maybe they're lying to someone, even if it's only to themselves.

There are very strong rumors about another series of movies, although not much has really been said about them. I wasn't holding out a huge amount of hope for the return of the Jack and Will Variety Hour (the only name I'd seen mentioned before was Johnny Depp's).

I'm a mite bit obsessed with the PotC movies. I threw a "Pirate Party" for the premiere of the last two, which were all kinds of dorky fun. If they start doing them again, I might be expected to continue the tradition.

I'm sort of looking forward to but also dreading watching SGU. I'm going to give it a go and hope that's it's okay, but I have my worries and doubts about it. Some of the trailer stuff has looked interesting and like it has the potential to be really good - some of it has me thinking it's going to be too BSG for my liking possibly (I stuck with BSG for two and a half seasons before admitting to myself that I wasn't enjoying it anymore and hadn't been for some time ( ... )

Yeah, I'm trying really hard to not pass judgment on the show until I see it... but what they keep showing me isn't exactly whetting my appetite for something that will make me jump up and down with excitement. (Brad Wright stating he flipped a coin to decide on canceling my favoritest show ever in favor of it does not help, darn it, Brad!) For its part, I hope it's more Stargate than BSG (as the name implies it would be), I just... kind of wish they'd stop pushing it so hard. The stubborn mule part of my DNA is starting to kick back.

And yes, I'd like a little clearer information than "You'll love it, trust us. It's not like we've never let you down before!"

Re: PotC

WORD. The first is still my favorite, and while I appreciate the latter two as films, they don't make me squeal in fannish delight the way the first one did. They seemed to toss out the fun in favor of trying to tell a dark, "deep" storyline. I'll still watch any new PotC offerings, though, because I'm an addict like that.

Sooo, *pokes head out of bed of denial* when does SGU air?

god I miss SGA. I miss it I miss it I miss it. I've started watching SG-1 out of sheer desperation and it's stupid and the pace is slower than molasses and Teal'c is not Ronon and O'Neill is not Sheppard and Daniel is not Teyla and Carter CERTAINLY ISN'T RODNEY.

SG-1 and SGA are completely different creatures. Although I liked how they ended the last shot of SG-1 much better, IMO. It's... kind of like trying to compare Star Trek TNG to Star Trek: Enterprise. Haha, come to think of the last episode of that series, the analogy is even more appropriate. But they're really about two different things. SG-1 is this epic tale of exploring other worlds, beating the military chest and saying "Hooyah!" being the great American hero (OMG THE FIRST SEASON IT BURNS), and trying to completley undermine whatever religion the rest of the galaxy believes in currently--er, I mean--yes, I'm being more than a little unfair.

SGA... I don't know, it was kind of odd and quirky, because I think they wanted it to be about the same things, but it seemed to be a lot more about outcasts/misfits finding a new and unlikely home, trying to survive in kind of a Wild West type galaxy, and trying to do the right thing, but occasionally falling completely and totally flat on your face. Or maybe I'm just spinning ( ... )

I was going to say "bite your tongue" and then I realized that sparkly vampires might be an improvement over what I'm hearing.

I can't cope with that idea.

Dude, if they put sparkly space vampires in it, I'd so be all over that show. At least until I stopped drinking.

I'm trying to ignore all the hype about SGU and make my own impressions. BW and RCC can talk all they want, but the proof will be what's onscreen. I'll give an episode, maybe 2, to sell itself.

There was a Q&A with Jerry Bruckheimer (sp?) in the last issue of Time where he said they were working on PotC 4. I can't remember exactly where they were in the process. Writing the script, maybe? Since I DETESTED the end of 3, they definitely need a 4. However, I will cry if Will isn't there. His ending in 3 is most of what I hated so much. Come back, Orlando! We need you to make it right!

I need to learn how to ignore the press releases and hype, because they're really not helping me keep a nice, open mind about the show like I would really like to.

I KNOW! That was an absolutely horrible end for the character. I mean, sure, it was sweet on Jack's part to give up a chance at immortality to save his friend's life--but he kind of also cursed him for eternity while he was at it. They really need to fix it, that way I can stop worrying about poor Will.

Come on, Orlando. Think of the children fangirls!

ETA: Whoops, wrong icon.

The first time we saw a preview for SGU, we had a moment of silence afterwards. Then Brilliant Husband said, "So by 'dark' they mean, 'We didn't pay the light bill'?"

Great minds think alike!

Actually, come to think of it, I think I stole that from you XD My addition to the bit was "In space, no one can read your electricity meter"
