Fuck, it's 12:57 p.m. CST, and I'm only just now beginning this entry. Which means it will be a very short entry. Outside, the temperature is 65˚F, and I'll spend all day at this desk. We may not have another day this warm until April.

Something unrelated: there's a great pic today on shorpy.com of a turn-of-the-century absinthe and bourbon house (established 1826!). They had an interior shot a while ago. It's a great site - the details on the enlarged images are often amazing. One of my regular daily stops. It might be helpful for period ambience if needed for your writing.

"A Mountain Walked" was so unnerving. I love the build up on this one and am really thrilled by the story, brava!! Its very cinematic to me for some reason too.

I read "A Mountain Walked" aloud to a friend, who enjoyed it as much as I did (I didn't know if the field notes-style narrative voice would make it too difficult to listen to when read aloud but it worked just fine). I highly recommend this one as a read-aloud story. It also made me even more curious about the dread tale of the Interrupted Bone Sharp, though I know it's hard going so far (and am perfectly willing to wait infinitely should it prove impossible).
