I'll second the Pump Six recommendation. The individual stories work as little vignettes into the world(s) that Bacigalupi's dreamed up. For the most part the science doesn't snap the thread suspending my disbelief, too (which can be problematic for explicitly biologically-oriented SF).
Recommended Alabaster: Wolves to my library, strongly suggesting that they pre-order for the reduced price, recommended it on my Facebook page, twittered it on Twitter, and pinned it to Pinterest. Signal: boosted.
This was my "ad" on Facebook (I am unaccustomed to such things):
So, I really like this series and want it to continue... Some keywords: ghouls, wrathful angels, southern bayous, talking birds, eldritch rites, hallucinations, madness, revolutionary-era ghosts, and a lonely albino girl on an (un?)holy mission to rid the world of evil. If any or all of those spoke to you, you need to read this comic. The writing is excellent and the art is gorgeous, plus it's gotten nothing but good reviews... Pre-order the collection (for the sale price of $12.76) and there will be more to come, as a gift to yourselves, and to me. Pretty please with everything+the kitchen sink on top?
(Feel free to steal, anyone who has not already suggested the collection via your chosen social networking outlet).

I hope this chapbook hasn't caused too much emotional upheaval. While so many of us are interested in your exploits, I'm sure all of us wish nothing but the best for you. Do you believe some of your anger may have been the very importance of the subject matter that you're breaching?
De-lurking to say I'd be very interested in reading whatever you'd like to post of "The Interrupted Bone Sharp," and the rest of the chapbook if/when you publish it.
