By Neptune's barnacle-encrusted balls, this is incredible. Not a new band, but a new discovery and a new favorite: Giant Squid. sovay, take heed! Hear all their music at bampcamp.com, and it's all purchasable via Amazon. Love at first listen.

If I should pour the rest of my bottle overboard into the sea
Will it sting the eyes, those black eyes staring up at me from behind all those teeth?
Or should I save the last sip for my frozen gut and my blue lips?

Whaaaaaaayesplease.

I mean, thanks for alerting me . . .

I knew you would love this.

I'm listening right now to "Dead Man Slough (Pacifastacus leniusculus)": Crayfish will do as they wish / Cattails beyond the pale / Hide the reason why he's late . . . Crayfish will do as they wish with every inch of him. It's like drowned Tom Waits, whispering up from the weeds. My God.

Why didn't I find this book while I was writing The Drowning Girl!!!!!??????

THEY WROTE A SONG CALLED "PANTHALASSA." I HAVE NO EXPLANATION.

I'm just glad I noticed the post by my cousin's wife on FB that contained the lyrics to Emerald Bay.

Holy crap, yes, thank you. This has made today better already. Now to solve only having enough coffee to make half a pot...

May I recommend something while I'm here? God only knows I've found enough music and other things to fixate on through your recommendations. If you haven't heard them, a band called O'Brother. I'm not sure how to describe them, but after hearing this, I think they might be up your alley.

Oh, nice! As Sovay said, very Tom Waits-ish.

In the interests of media exchange, here's a fun animated video:

A drowned Tom Waits - perfect description. Now, if only they did a cover of "Song to the Siren".
