I'm resisting the urge to write more about
Prometheus today. Specifically, I'm resisting the urge to vent spleen towards all the people who I've seen whining that the film lacked racial and sexual diversity. Right. Let's forget the captain and his copilot, who sacrifice themselves to save all of humanity - the former black, the latter Chinese. Oh,

Wow. I'm so glad I haven't heard that from anyone yet.
I thought they were blue-gray aliens. What movie was I watching?
People are obviously trying way too hard to find things to complain about, which is just further evidence that this is a great film.

That other one.

There's a great horde of people who prowl the internet, looking for anything to whine about.

Although, I personally did have a visceral reaction in the theater to the autodoc being programmed for males only (however, with my female vet lens -- that hit close to home). However, it proved to show Shaw as quick-witted despite her cross-toting-ness, which I feared was going to be her downfall.

There was deep discussion about Prometheus -- and none of it really centered on any of the annoying things we've been seeing.
Frankly, I'd rather confine my comments to the blog. Even in a friendly crowd, I'd likely become...too animated. If the subject comes up at a Readercon panel I'm on, I intend to politely say that I loved the film, that it's brilliant, and then, politely, excuse myself from the room.

I had no such reaction, as I'd already figured out Weyland was onboard, and that it was intended for his use.

2)Love the Bradbury quote. What's that from? I'm making it a point to read some Bradbury when I get a bit of time off in July. What a treasure he was. So glad we still have his work to read and share.

1)Saw PROMETHEUS for the second time this morning and enjoyed it much more upon this viewing. I seem to need to watch the thought-provoking films at least twice so I may process the plot and the ideas separately. I disregarded the Alien connection and saw it as a standalone adventure of questing and exploration and it passed the test with flying colors. It's only the time and money constraints that will prevent me from viewing it again in theaters. As for the forthcoming DVD release, it's definitely a keeper.
Good for you.
