I'll get back to the Prometheus review tomorrow. Meanwhile, here's the Publishers Weekly review of Confessions of a Five-Chambered Heart:

This impressive collection of 25 “weird romance” stories (all previously published in Kiernan’s monthly e-zine, Sirenia Digest, between 2007 and 2009) is laden with dark little gems that blur the boundaries ( Read more... )

It occurs to me that potential buyers may hold off ordering Confessions of a Five Chambered Heart, believing that some of the stories may be collected in the Best of volume to be published next year.

Perhaps Bill can note prominently on the Subterranean site that due to content, none of these stories will appear in volume 2 in the best of series. Financial times being what they are, people may be reluctant to pay for the same stories twice, perceiving a double dip where none exists.

An easy misunderstanding to make, and just as easily cleared up. More work for Bill, I'm sure he'll be delighted. Just a Thought.

The next "best of" won't be out until 2014, and only one or two of these stories might appear in that book. So, if people do indeed think this, they're mistaken.

Perhaps Bill can note prominently on the Subterranean site that due to content, none of these stories will appear in volume 2 in the best of series.

But it's not a given they won't. The sexually explicit nature of many of them has nothing to do with whether or not they'll be in that volume.

Well then, it's me doing the misunderstanding; but in my defense, it wouldn't be the first time. All I can say is oops; and by the way, please don't tell anyone. would make me look like the kind of imbecile that assumes stuff; hate for that to happen.

For what it's worth, I ordered my limited edition the day Subterranean announced it. I think it was sometime around December 6th?

Nice. I really like that final line, particularly the "desire without boundaries" part.

That's a good write-up (what do you make of that "weird romance" tag, though?). Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Prometheus - I saw it yesterday.

The seductively dark lyricism and thematic profundity of this collection will appeal to anyone who shares Kiernan’s longing for “desire without boundaries.”

I hope that's many.

Go, you.
