I have never actually used the LJ "scrapbook" feature, but I figured a lot of you might (Spooky does), so I'm reposting this. Note that LJ could not be fucking bothered to offer an English translation of the Russian announcement:

Not sure what the fuss is about. I use Scrapbook all the time.

There is a error in this PSA - Paid members don't get 10GB - they get 2GB with an option to upgrade to 10GB - for an annual fee.

It does seem that the English news item covered this and Scrapbook will be continuing just with a different interface. Not sure why they want to fix something that works ok as is but hey happy to wait and see how it turns out.

Will I still have the same amount of storage space for my images?
Yes, all account levels will retain the same storage space levels as before, including if you've purchased the extra storage space add-on. These levels are not being reduced.

Edit: Looks like this meme started before LJ staff posted the news item as one of the top comments in the post directed to has a statement from someone. Again I expect the original creator just wasn't aware of what the actual paid account features are.
