Happy Beltane.

1) You may now read "Random Thoughts Before a Fatal Crash" in the Spring 2012 Subterranean (at Subterranean Press, natch). There's a bit of interesting history to this piece. It first appeared in Sirenia Digest (#64, March 2011), and was intended, originally, as part of the "Back Pages" of The Drowning Girl: A Memoir. But it came ( Read more... )

Anyway, here it is. Albert Perrault fans rejoice.

Oh, I do.

She and I have both counted only seven uses in the novel.

Seven instances is very little exposure for a word to lose its impact.

Oh, I do.

I thought as much.

Seven instances is very little exposure for a word to lose its impact.

Agreed.

Fringe just keeps getting better and better, doesn't it? As much as I mourn that next season will be the last and shortest, I trust them to make those 13 episodes count.

I have been avoiding Pinterest because if I give in, I will never ever get anything done. There's too much out there for me to "pin"!

My pre-order for the next collection has been made yoinks ago. I hope it's spring rather than late summer for its arrival.

Yup.

Truthfully, I think it's time to wrap up the story.

Thank you.

You're right about it being time to wrap up Fringe. I can think of a few shows that outstayed their welcome by not learning to stay dead!

A friend of mine in the UK is rediscovering you all over again now that he has a bit of pocket money. He sent me a tweet last night telling me he watched the Lovecraft documentary you were in and "she was fuckin' brilliant, wasn't she?"

There are places where all stories should wrap up (even if all "endings" are arbitrary).

"she was fuckin' brilliant, wasn't she?"

The past tense seems ominous.

Woot and bow tie. And thank you.

I read some para-rom although I ridiculously want to think I have certain standards of which para-rom is worth reading.

I want to laugh. But I'll be good.

Oh, and don't get me started about that hack Charlene Harris.

The kids returned your books they had borrowed from me and left with several more books by Bradbury and Lovecraft and one by Harlan Ellison. For 22 yr olds to want to read real books is a great thing these days. This couple have begun to read nightly before sleep. They turn off the TV and computers in the livingroom and retire to the bedroom with books.

This makes me smile.

Pinterest provides me with a great distraction for pain in an easy to use format. Easier than Tumblr or Flickr. Yes, I'm definitely addicted and sometimes I'm not sure it is good or bad but it helps pain levels. For ( ... )

Go on and laugh. I've never been one to stifle a good laugh and I won't be offended because I'm already amused by my ironic idea of standards when reading para-rom. If you get a good laugh over it then I am glad. Laughter is good for the soul.

After 18 yrs of chronic pain and fatigue what life I do have left is small. When I'm housebound and in bed most of the time, internet provides me with contact and distraction as well as entertainment.

Honestly, I meant no offence. I hope none was taken. If so, I apologise.

Random Thoughts Before a Fatal Crash is brilliant. Thank you. I can see how it might have unbalanced the novel, but it also deepens the experience of The Drowning Girl beautifully, so I'm glad it exists somewhere people can read it.
