First, here's a preview of Dark Horse Presents #9, which will include pages 1-8 of Alabaster #1. DHP #9 will be in stores on February 22nd. So, yes, Alabaster is coming! And Mike Mignola! Imagine that - me, in a comic with Hell Boy's dad!

In truth, I knew it might end up here when I sent it, mostly because it was relevant.

(I should confess that it was mocked up for a different convention, one devoted to horror, and not beloved ReaderCon...but that doesn't change much. The problems remain.)

Well, that's a relief.

Agreed.

I would like to see that panel very, very badly. Or, at least, be able to see that discussion take place. I'm sure it has many other places outside of my attention, but I wish it showed up more often.

There's a Barry Malzberg short story ("Corridors," I think?) that could be summarized as a world-reknowned SF writer going to a convention and then quietly weeping in his room because seeing SF culture up close is so heartbreakingly tragic...

I used to think it was cute when faustfatale would say "groovy like a movie," but I never had the nerve to say it myself.

would say "groovy like a movie,"

Well, she does have a way with words. People used to make fun of me for saying "neat" and "neat-o." But then, I'm of the "man" generation, not the "dude" generation.

Those are very keen looking horns. I covet; though, what with a bald head, custom headgear is required (I used to have small impish horns and a scarf configuration to hide the fastening string). ETA, let us close-parenthesis, this time.

That or an abundance of spirit gum.

I think you will make an appropriately Del Torrian faun.

Those are very keen looking horns.

They are very bow tie, and will be seen at Readercon.

That's my aim. A shame I cannot walk on stilts.

I have seen stilts appropriate to the gait, and they are intimidating, inspiring, and also more expensive than my car.

Guessing the "Black Alphabet" was the first (pls. correct if NO), but is YELLOW BOOK (with CONFESSIONS OF A FIVE-CHAMBERED HEART) same as "Yellow Alphabet," or may we expect another primer?

More importantly, I could never achieve the necessary balance.

In the UK, if something is "awesome", they say it's "lush". Actually, in the area of the UK I live in, they say it's "gert lush".

I knew about "lush," but not "gert lush." Translate "gert"?

"Awesomesauce" really does my head in. I've tried to fight back by using "bow tie" in conversation.

Some cool things: oh, those horns! They are fabulous. With the contacts in, I can't help but wonder if you'll become Aunt Krampus next winter.

And Vince's art for The Lost Language; please, please, make that a t-shirt. I would wear that, believe me.
