"There's your flyby."

Yesterday, there was more than a bit of drama on Facebook. Because I reposted an article unconditionally supporting a second term for President Obama, and pointing out what a bunch of loons the GOP has become. I'm honestly not sure when I started my FB page, but it was years ago. I must still have been in Atlanta. In all that time, I've found the ( Read more... )

I'm glad the vacation agrees with you. Much less so on FB twattery. (I remain reticent on "adding"/"friending"/whatever godsawful term one might use/ you on LJ, despite spending a lot of time on here. And the fact it seems like a much less impersonal question here. Damn it. May I?)

Facebook is so often froth at best. It's gutted the word "friendship".

On a plus note, the Bowtie/Bowie wordplay is immensely pleasing.

I was sitting around thinking about Tree of Life and Melancholia the other day, trying to compare both, and yet not. They are the two most powerful films I've seen this year, possibly the most beautiful and moving. Each one so well crafted and visually accomplished too. I appreciated your insight.

Also, I hesitate to recommend films without having seen them myself, but I only recently discovered a favorite documentary artist of mine, Patricio Guzman, released a film this year called "Nostalgia for the Light." Look it up if you haven't heard about it, I think based on the thoughts you share here in LJ you'd probably be interested in it.

Do you know whether Confessions of a Five-Chambered Heart will ever be released in trade paperback at some point? Because I dearly, dearly want it, but hardcovers are out of my price range these days.

I don't know for sure. But it's very unlikely.

I adored Melancholia, but missed Tree of Life. I must track it down.

Thank you, for the reminder to pre-order!

I can't wait to see Melancholia. I love me some Charlotte Gainsbourg.
