I need to try to make this short.

Here in Providence, summer is still February again.

Blood Oranges progresses at an impressive clip. On Sunday, I wrote 2,443 words, and yesterday, I did 2,188 words and finished Chapter 3. I've cleared with my agent that this novel will be, at most, 75,000 words (my novels are usually more that 100k). And, by the ( Read more... )

Since PW is hard to find in the wild, here's where they sell individual back issues for whomever wants to be kind enough to buy the issue for you...

My presumption is that it's the 6/13 issue...but they stopped sending it to me years ago so there's no way of knowing...

Interesting- I normally describe The Fifth Element as a delightful fairy tale in science-fiction-action-adventure trappings. If you go expecting hard SF, your suspension of disbelief will get kicked all over the theater, but if you just appreciate the story for what it is, it’s great fun.

First time I saw it, the day it came out, I all but hated it, because of the misleading trailer. Went back a few days later an saw it again, and "got it." I saw it a total of nine times in the theatre.

Or to paraphrase Ursula K. LeGuin, this is me taking back the language of the night.

Holy crap, is that a personal best? It has to be close.

Congratulations on the review and the sales. Very much regretting not ordering TW&IB (I rationalized that I had all the works, which later realized was wrong), and now it's all "next paycheck, maybe next paycheck". Ah well.

By moonlight, the high pass at Mage's Mark.

Aw. Man, this makes me feel bad for Jude. That's probably the most romantic moment of soon-to-be-ending unlife.

Before the gates of Stillmoor

Man, those towers look hungry.

Nope. Personal best, from a few months ago, is a little over 3,200. I had a fever that day.

No worries. Truthfully, I couldn't have afforded it.

I thought it was a great and, yeah, romantic shot. As for Jude, he was permanently dismissed last night, during a ceremony Selwyn conducted at the well in Lantern Hook. Only Enth'lye watched on. Selwyn wore his wedding dress.

That's pretty interesting sentence.

Selwyn found an old trunk of his belongs (he who was she) at the Refuge (this was before the slaughter), and brought them back to Lantern Hook.

She has renounced necromancy and pyromancy, andid taking up studies in chloromancy, elementalism, and storm calling, and has dedicated herself to aiding in the healing of the Droughtlands. She took new vows to Tavril. This makes her status within the Unseen...dubious.
