but I definitely want to read more of Kathe Koja's work, so I'll be picking up Under the Poppy, even if I am a bit late about it.

Spooky and I went to Warwick and saw a matinée of Francis Lawrence's Water for Elephants (from Sara Gruen's 2006 novel, of which Spooky is a great admirer).

I want to see this movie for Christoph Waltz alone. He's mesmerizing.

The more I read your posts about Rift, the more tempted I am to play. Which is perilous, because I know it would rear up and eat my life if I gave it half a chance.

Yerp. And he brings the same sadistic glee to this film that we saw in Inglourious Basterds

This is where self-control comes in.

I've yet to read "Under the Poppy," though I will. I've read several of the books you've mentioned here, including the fabulous "The Book Thief" and "The Hunger Games." I also follow up on your movie recommendations.

Have you heard of Rick Yancey's "Monstrumologist" YA book series? You might enjoy those.
