The sky only bleeds when I'm not looking.

Spooky and I are still battling Monsieur Insomnia. I got a good night's sleep night before last, then was back to the Ambien bottle last night. It was sometime after five before I got to sleep. It's not just going to sleep, for both of us. It's staying asleep. Spooky seems especially sensitive to Outside noises. They don't bother me so much. But we ( Read more... )

Yes, that's actually a line from Inception, or a paraphrase thereof. The actual line from the shooting script goes like this.

COBB: It does. Every time you dream. Let me ask you a question: You never remember the beginning of your dreams, do you? You just turn up in the middle of what's going on.

Thanks. I thought that must have been where I was remembering it from. I so loved that film.

It is wonderful. I might be biased since I've become involved in the fandom, but there's a lot of layers that I'd love to dig through. This morning I wound up wasting an hour reading up on Francis Bacon (as much as any time spent reading can be called wasted), trying to figure out the symbolism of that painting in the first dream-level in the beginning of the movie, instead of writing a paper for a class I have Wednesday.

(I did finish the paper just a while ago, so back to more Bacon.)

Another Bacon that's good for breakfast!

(Yeah, I'm being silly this morning. It's the sort of morning where I watched a video of a metal band singing a song about Terminator 2. "I NEED YOUR CLOTHES! YOUR BOOTS! YOUR MOTORCYCLE!" Will try to be more substantive as the day goes on...)

I'm not going to make the mistake that's so agonizingly detailed in Stephen King's Insomnia of everybody saying "Well how about do [this] to sleep?" King knows from insomnia, and he knows how maddening that is.

When you get to the point of wanting to hit yourself over the head with those hardbacks to get to sleep, LET US KNOW so we can stop you.

Sympathies. And at least the dream treated you well. I'm lucky in that I almost never have full-on nightmares; I kind of accept the dreams, even when they're strange, and go on. (I can see you with a bone walking stick. Ever worn a suit?)

Ever worn a suit?

Of course. I am a gender criminal.

So maybe the better question is: How do you feel wearing a suit? Were yuo comfortable in it or not?

Me, I've rarely done it. Wore a tux for my brother's wedding, and have occasionally been tie-formal, but otherwise no.

I actually rather like wearing suits, if they are well tailored or entirely accidental.

There was a very young Asian girl scattering yellow rose petals across the quay, and I understood she was paid to do this, but that it was also a sort of sacred duty. So, I walked on yellow rose petals between tall ships.

That is a lovely image.

Have some color photographs of the 1940's.
