Rain, rain, go away....

Jun 25, 2009 11:05

Well, it's not actually raining at this particular fucking moment, but neither is there the sun and warmth we were promised, as late as 2 ayem when I went to bed. Grey skies, and it's a mere 66F. I glanced at the weather for June over at TWC.com, day by day thus far and it looks like March, not June. Not even here in gloomy ol' Providence ( Read more... )

"Tennessee William's Suddenly, Last Summer (which, by the way, is referenced throughout the novel)"

That's as good a reason as any for me to dig out my copy and reread it.

Several books and plays are important to The Red Tree, "Suddenly, Last Summer" probably chief among them (though I suggest the Joseph L. Mankiewicz film, as much as the play itself). My editor has expressed concern that readers won't quite understand parts of the novel because they are unfamiliar with the play. Which just makes me sad.

I don't understand parts of my life because I cannot read the minds of others well, intentions particularly.

Side note: Looks like today I took the step up from casual fan to serious collector. Have a drink or three at Readercon on me. I am so disappointed I won't have the opportunity to attend your talks. Any chance of getting audio recordings that you can upload as podcasts?

Not if I have anything to say about it (hate my voice).

Thanks for the eBay!

I think I need to make a road trip to Providence. For me, especially since summer-induced seasonal depression is ripping me to pieces, I think I need a week in those temperatures and with that sort of gloom. Heck, let's make it a month.

I miss the Atlanta heat.

We've had pretty much the same wet, chilly, gloomy weather since early April. Even Hubero is depressed.

You posted once or twice before about the Google Books kerfluffle, so when I came across this TBM article...

... I naturally wanted your perspective. Hope you get some weather soon that's more to your taste! It's in the high fifties Fahrenheit here in Seattle, and I couldn't be happier.

My opinion remains unchanged. Google Books is blatantly, illegally violating my copyrights. Worse yet, I am being denied the right to choose.

It's just too weird, simply not having had a single summer day when it's already June 25th.

Happy belated B-Day Spooky.

I feel the same way about writing today, its all in my head, but no desire to pound it in my Laptop.

I dropped the habit of the Crack that is WoW last year.
So tempted to go back after the add-on went Gold.

Have you all tried Warhammer-Online yet?

Ok, I think it's time for new glasses. I just read the last line of your entry as saying you wanted to go and spend a couple of days 'baking and swearing'. All right then.

I hope you get some better weather soon!

I think I got the swearing part covered.
