I was in bed at a decent hour last night. Before 2:30 ayem. And I almost fell asleep about an hour later. But then, inexplicably, I was awake again, despite the pills, despite genuine exhaustion. I lay there, and lay there, and lay there, and at 4:30 ayem I took a second tab of zolpidem tartrate, which did the trick. And still is doing the trick.

I read that book way, WAY too early, when I was about ten or eleven, and still have that same copy, a battered mass-market I'd bugged my mom for after seeing Nightbreed. The sex went straight over my head, but it solidified something in me that became my lifelong fascination and love affair with the idea of the Other.

Yep. The movie, I think, falls apart (and this likely wasn't Barker's fault), but, even so, it presents some exquisite images.
