Yesterday, I did 1,552 words on Chapter Five of The Red Tree. At this point, the manuscript is 51,435 words long, or 206 pages. And, as usual, I have no idea how this novel will be received. I do not know how my agent will react, or my editor, and especially not readers. This is probably not the novel with which I will win over Middle America. I

I told my Canadian fiance that the perfect words to describe Palin were "The Ugly American." She is one of those people who go to foreign countries and say things very loud and slow in English because, of course, then someone non-American will understand her.

I love how people are slinging around "experience", as if surviving in a dirty, back-stabbing business like politics is a good thing. Palin's kind of the other extreme, she's scary as hell because she's so obviously the anti-christ a master to have rocketed up the ladder so quickly.
