Another marginally productive day yesterday. But I still do not know what the next piece for Sirenia Digest #23 will be, nor have I begun the prologue for Joey Lafaye.

I did get my list done for Del Howison, Amy Wallace and Scott Bradley's The Horror Book of Lists (due out from HarperCollins in 2008). I chose "Thirteen of the Top Ten "Lovecraftian ( Read more... )

Being a major Lovecraft nut, I can't wait to be able to read how King Kong and Ghostbusters are Lovecraftian.

Sounds interesting

If I remember correctly, Harold Ramis briefly discusses the influence of Lovecraft on Ghostbusters on the DVD commentary. I definitely remember Guillermo del Toro going on and on about Lovecraft in the commentary for the extended edition of Hellboy.

The only movie I'd think to add to your list would maybe be Picnic at Hanging Rock.

Oh, good Torchwood last night. The episode took me completely by surprise. Nice chill in the ending - "They make me happy."

Yes - I've been loving the series, but this one really sank its teeth into me. So I'll delurk and say "thank you" because your mentioning Torchwood was part of why I sat down to watch the pilot. And that was that.

Here's the list.

I'm surprised Ravenous (Antonia Bird, 1999) did not quite make the list. I watched it upon your recommendation of its Lovecraftian tone, which I found to be an apt and insightful description.
