So, yesterday we made it all the way through Chapter Four ("Yer Funeral") of Silk. It was a little annoying to discover that the photostat I'd been sent was missing several pages near the beginning, but it's nothing that isn't easily remedied. Anyway, as of the end of the day yesterday, this is how the Zokutou page meter looks:

We'll see. Lately, I'm a little photo shy.
At the same time, I'm glad to have a copy of the Roc edition, as I thought the "compounderations" played a big stylistic role in the unsane tone of the whole book.
I deliberated a great deal as to how much I was going to alter this text. But in the end, I decided it needs to read a little more like MoA, and that many of the "compounderations" which once pleased my ear fall flat and ugly. "Plasticslick," for example. I'm not taking them all out. Just a lot of them.
