Just a couple of reader e-mails I've meaning to get to...

Brett J. writes:

Hi, I've been a fan of yours since Silk and I've been reading your journal for a while. I have a question that I don't think I've seen you cover before, but I could be wrong. What would you think of people writing fan fiction or roleplaying as characters from your stories ( Read more... )

A grab-bag of responderoonies. And a thank-you. chris_walsh March 15 2007, 22:32:45 UTC
Calvin and Hobbes

Plenty of papers have rerun it regularly over the years...

By the way, I didn't think of what Mr. Brett wrote, but reading that and your expanding on the thought immediately helped me picture Deacon clipping them. And I pictured it vividly. I'm not even anywhere near your novels right now, but it's like I just opened DoH again. Thank you for that. You've caused another smile.

"House, New Mexico"

That was my first "oh shit" sign about that review. Even before seeing your name misspelled. Yeef.

Dancy

I can't remember Dancy swearing at all. Ever. (I haven't read all of Alabaster, so I can't be sure, but it's hard to imagine her swearing.)

Ah. See, I virtually never read newspapers. My bad.

Thank you for that. You've caused another smile.

You're welcome.

I have yet to see a bad review for anything on Amazon that avoided grammar mistakes. It seems to be an inherent flaw in everything angry on the Internet...

Well, perhaps not everything angry. I do try to get the spelling and grammar right when I rant about something, though I still say "fuck" a lot.

You, then, have my Seal of Approval (although perhaps not Jerry Franklin's).

Ugh! House, New Mexico? I've lived here all my life, and never heard of it. The smaller towns here can have some pretty crazy world-views. Rest assured that all of us aren't that way...or even remotely that way. Or even the same species as that way.

This may be a stupid question, but what does "cisgenderist" mean? I can guess, but I'd rather not guess and be wrong.

Cisgendered.

A cisgenderist would, therefore, exhibit a bias in favour of those who are cisgendered.
