Howard Hughes vs. the Crackheads

Dec 20, 2006 11:25

I might be awake enough to write this. Maybe. An entry of good things and one very bad thing. At least I have David Bowie and Moby here to buoy my spirits and sing to me and remind me that "Nothing has changed / Everything has changed ( Read more... )

That sucks. Hope they find her gear.

I would recommend waiting on buying new stuff since Jobs Keynote is on 1/9/07 and may intro new models.

The new macbooks are sweet and well worth the price.

That's the main reason I moved out of the Augusta area, although I'm sure Atlanta is far worse. We had a lot of stuff stolen when we lived in the city. A few years ago, we moved to this little town (Harlem) outside of the city in the middle of nowhere with nothing more than an IGA, a stoplight and a Huddle House. And I love it. I always swore up and down I was a city girl (having come from Boston), but this is one of those places where you literally can leave your doors unlocked and not worry about it.

And it's quiet. Which really freaked me out at first, because I had grown used to the sound of traffic and sirens pretty much 24/7! *LOL*

There are some down sides, though. We did have a possum living with us for a few days before realizing it! The cats had accepted him into the family, letting him eat their food and drink their water before we even realized what was going on. We removed him to the shed in the back of the house where he still gets the occasional bit of cat food. I'm still getting used to the whole wildlife situation!

I think I'm going to make fliers to put up around the neighborhood. They won't get the iBook back, but they might make me feel better. Something goofy like, Hey, crack-addled asshole. You stole an iBook from two grey witches, you dumbfuck, and soon your pecker will fall off and you'll go blind. But that's just for starters. Hope it was worth it, shitstain. Merry fucking Xmas. Of course, I have no actual belief in Karmic retribution or the efficacy of spells as a means of skewing cause and effect in one's favour (right now, I wish I did). But I might get lucky, as the crackhead is probably superstitious. It might give the bastard a good scare.

Go for it. I am really, really sorry.

Damn, that's nasty. I know what it's like. Just about the same thing happened to me a year and a half ago. Someone came through the back kitchen door and snagged my Powerbook off the table and ran. We were upstairs and heard the noise, but didn't get down in time to see the thief. Never got it back, unfortunately. I hope that they manage to recover Spooky's....

Damn, I'm really sorry. This may be a stupid question, but, do you two have any kind of renter's insurance that cover theft? It won't get the computer back but at least could cover the cost of a new one.
