"My dear Zampanò, who did you lose?"

No walk this morning. Insomnia is back. I made a valiant effort to get to sleep early last night, and was, in fact, in bed by 12:30 a.m. (CaST) But Spooky was taking a late, hot bath and something in our dark bedroom gave me the creeps, so I got up and sat with her until she was done bathing. Still, I was back in bed by 12:50, doped up on my usual ( Read more... )

You're very welcome, Caitlin. I devoured the book and wished there was more. It was an excellent way to spend the afternoon as my wife slept next to me on the couch.

And I can empathize with the insomnia. I occasionally suffer from it as well, and it's a bitch of a thing. I can't concentrate, I don't have the energy to do anything, I just want to fucking sleep. Meditation has helped recently, although I don't even know if I'm doing it right; still spending at least fifteen minutes trying to calm my mind before bed has helped some.

I got this on my page-a-day Edward Gorey Calender today and for some reason I thought of you:

"The sky has grown completely black;
It's time to think of turning back."
- From The Evil Garden.

Omnious, this close to election day.

The other piece for SD 12 is probably going to be an erotic vignette inspired by "The Pied Piper of Hamlin."

I'm just glad that I'm not the only one that has a thing for whaling ships and also Moby Dick. Did you catch the Nova series Norhtwest Passage Hopefully they'll do a DVD once it's over, because it's one of the few TV shows that had me actually making sure I was home on the correct day and time.

On a side note, The Sagas of Icelanders (sorry, amazon link) is fairly amazing. I bought it for Boo a few birthdays ago, and evn though my drunken ass still loves to pick on her mythical ways, it caused me about a week of sleepless nights while I plowed through it.

We did a fun Litha ritual this year invoking Njord and Nerthus, Frej and Freya at the quarters (as parents and grandparents with the coven as the children) that worked really well on a connection plane.
It's hard to research Norse mythology sins it's a lot like Celtic in that
it differs from tribe to tribe and there's no covering source material
(the records are just pin-points in time and place)But Sonya can tell you that.
