It is not my custom to be writing a journal entry (or anything else) this early, but here I am typing. I think I must have slept about eight hours last night. I awoke from the nightmares about ten. I still haven't shaken them loose ( Read more... )

I remember one of the jokes running through the Arkansas "equal time for scientific creationism" trial in 1982, back when Wickramasinghe was one of the witnesses for the defense. Just a short time before, his and Fred Hoyle's book Diseases From Space had been published, and the reporters covering the trial joked "Honey, I have bad news and good news. The bad news is that I have herpes. The good news is that I got it from outer space."
