I'm fascinated by how much traction "weird" is getting. It absolutely would have backfired in 2016, just like "deplorables", but we've experienced four years of President Trump since and those were decidedly abnormal and bizarre, and there’s been no repudiation of Trump and Trumpism from the right since 2020. If anything, the Republicans have doubled down. “Weird” is a very catchy, pithy and effective way of saying “the emperor has no clothes”. Childish maybe, but inarguably restrained to innumerable things the Horror Clown has come out with over the past eight years.
