Cloudy after mid morning. Cooler. Our high was 87˚F, with a heat index of 92˚F.

I slept less than four hours last night and spent the day ill. I was up at 5 a.m., after an interminable period lying awake, and I watched the sunrise, then laid back down at 8:30 a.m., dozed fitfully until about 9:30 a.m., then gave up.

I've been thinking of re-reading The Secret History, too. None of Tartt's later works quite matched it for me; I liked The Goldfinch all right but felt it was at least 100 pages too long.
