Cloudy most of the day. Maybe a little rain. The heat has broken. The high was only 82˚F. It's currently 77˚F, with the heat index at 79˚F.

I managed to do almost nothing today except read The Secret History. In a week, I've had one good night's sleep, and that night was not last night

Because I'm that guy... there was a sort of shared world with the Brat Packers (Bret Easton Ellis, Jay McInerney, Tama Janowitz and a few others) that touches Tartt's world. Ellis's novel Rules of Attraction ('87) mentions the weird classics students, from Tartt's The Secret History ('92). They were classmates at Bennington.
