On this day in 1994, I moved out of the apartment at 1619 16th Avenue South, on Birmingham's Southside, where I'd lived since 1990, and went away to spend three years in Athens, Georgia. I read "The Last Unicorn" the same year, the Ballantine paperback with the memorable and nostalgic Gervasio Gallardo cover. That same year I read "The Face in the Frost" by John Bellairs and "The Owl Service" by Alan Garner. Love all of those books to this day, some of the best I've ever read.
