Have you considered having two social media identities? One could be for interacting with fans, readers, etc. (people you don't know personally) and another for personal friends/relatives (if there are any with whom you wish to interact on social media) and/or professional connections. Supposedly you need to use your own name on Facebook, but there are ways around that, people have discovered. That way you could keep the two separate, and keep your private life private, or at least not as open to public consumption. If you've already considered this, I apologize for bringing it up. You're intelligent, you've probably figured this out and rejected it. I'm not a fan of social media. I prefer LJ and DW. I use Facebook mainly for keeping up with distant family (I have a large extended family in Norway, and numerous nieces and nephews), and old friends I don't see often. Twitter I use to keep up on politics and with authors I like, such as N.K. Jemisin. I don't visit Twitter often, as politics can be very discouraging these days, both on ( ... )
